Relay for Life seeking teams for annual event

The ninth annual Relay for Life event for Franklin County is seeking teams to help fight against cancer. For this year’s event, the Franklin County committee is teaming up with Wood County to make the gathering larger.

IF: Gatherings planned next week, next month

Registration is now open for the third annual IF: Gathering in Franklin County. There will be two sessions to accommodate busy schedules for the free event this year.

High school UIL team competes at home event

Mount Vernon High School was the site of an UIL Academic meet on Saturday, March 19. The MVHS accounting team and the Current Issues and Events team each won first place

Masters degree

Jamie DoanJamie Doan of Savoy recently graduated Cum Laude from LeTourneau University with a master of arts in counseling degree. She is the daughter of Pam and David Williams and Butch and Kathy Raley of Mount Vernon.

iPad classes at library

A second round of iPad classes will be Tuesday, March 22 at the Franklin County Library. The classes will provide information about the basics of iPads, the use iPads, and downloading and using apps.

Sewer work

Crews with Kampco, Inc. did a trench along Major St. to install sewer lines.Crews with Kampco, Inc. did a trench along Major St. to install sewer lines. Work on the $1.6 million project recently began on the east side of Mount Vernon. The project will replace 22,500 feet of primary water water collection lines.
