Teens at the Lunches of Love program are learning how to make their own healthy snacks during the activity time. Last week, the teens made strawberry freezer jam, which can be kept in the refrigerator for up to three weeks or frozen up to a year.
Most agreed the tasty treat would never last that long. Lindsay Yeager, AgriLife Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Science, and other volunteers conduct the activity on different days. They are covering various life skills during the series. About 20 teens are participating in the summer meal/activity program.
