Funeral services for Kaleb Wayne Smith age 16 of Mt. Vernon will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Cornerstone Church with Rev. Jim Crittenden officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stouts Creek Cemetery with Randy Johnson, Rodney Ricks, Keith Morgan, Lee Seimears, Tyree Vaughn and Manuel Diaz serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Derrick Ricks, Cody Dewitt, Tucker Johnson and Tyler Cheves.
Visitation was from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel.
A Memorial fund has been set up at Prosperity Bank for the family.
Kaleb was born in Sulphur Springs on September 28, 1996, the son of Kenneth Wayne Smith and Louise Seimears.
He was a very ambitious young man; a sophomore at Mt. Vernon High School, where he excelled in the band, football, power lifting and track. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He was an honorary puppeteer and active with the youth at Cornerstone Church.
He is survived by his mother; Louise Siemears of Mt. Vernon, maternal grandmother Doris Siemears of Mt. Vernon, paternal grandparents Thomas and Patsy Burks of Pickton, maternal great grandmother Mildred Johnson of Willow Springs, MO; Aunts Mary Morgan and Keith of Scroggins, Robin Blair of Mt. Vernon and Debbie and Perry Blankenship of Mt. Vernon; Uncle Lee Seimears of Leloup, KS and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Smith in 1999 and his maternal grandfather Martin Seimears in 2007.
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
