Gerald Fitzgerald, “Fitz”, age 76 of Scroggins, Texas, died Thursday night, March 28, 2013 at his home surrounded by friends and family.
Born April 10, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Margaret and Thomas Fitzgerald III.
Gerald served in active duty of the United States Air Force for 22 years, was an active member in AA, worked as a drug and alcohol counselor and loved to sail and country dance.
He is survived by longtime, loving companion, Joyce Jones, who has been an angel to him and to his children.
Gerald is also survived by seven children and 18 grandchildren and two siblings; son Mike Fitzgerald of Palmer, Alaska and granddaughters: Kate, Beth and Jade; son Patrick and Kathy Jo Fitzgerald of St. Louis, Missouri and grandsons: Brandon and Jeremy; son Ray and Kay Lynn Fitzgerald of Keller, Texas and grandsons: Ray, Robert and Ryan and granddaughter: Rebecca; son Ralph and Saundra Fitzgerald of Lewisville, Texas and granddaughters: Sarah and Laura and grandson: Jeff; son Rick and Lisa Fitzgerald of Sachse, Texas and granddaughters: Kristen and Kelly; daughter Laura and Guy Church of Colleyville, Texas and grandsons: Kyle and Keith; and daughter Janet and Mike McMillan of San Francisco, California and grandsons: Max and Alex; sister Betty Shepherd of Kirkwood, Missouri and brother Thomas Fitzgerald IV of St. Louis, Missouri.
Memorial services for Gerald Fitzgerald will be held at 11am, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church Mt. Vernon on 524 TX Hwy 37 South in Mt. Vernon, Texas with Pastor Jack Wallace officiating.
