Funeral services for Vinton Vannoy Veasey, age 71 of Mount Vernon were at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Veasey, Byron Bass, and a Dallas Fire Department Honor Guard Chaplin officiating.
Mr. Veasey was born in Mount Vernon on Nov. 11, 1941 to Coy and Jessie Bryant Newberry Veasey. He was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and the Dallas Institute-Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science. He served as a funeral director and embalmer for over 24 years and was a Dallas Fire Fighter at station #17 B Shift 2nd Driver for over 14 years. He was a member of Macon Baptist Church.
He died Thursday, May 2 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sons, Russell Brent Veasey and Randall Scott Veasey, both of Plano; a daughter, Cynthia Lynn Veasey; special caregivers Johnny Delgado and Margaret Newsom; a brother, Harlin Veasey of Sunnyvale; a sister, Virginia Veasey Joyner of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were members of the Dallas Fire Department Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Veasey, Melinda Veasey Fancher, Tod Fancher, Jennifer Joyner Easley, Mark Easley, Jessie Fancher Camarillo, Josh Camarillo, Jack D. Easley, and Richard Dale King.
Memorials may be made to the Fuquay Cemetery or to Cypress Basin Hospice.
