Bohlken, Brown named to Academic All State

Bailey Bohlken and Ashley BrownBailey Bohlken and Ashley Brown have been named to the Softball Academic All-State team. Both are 2014 graduates of Mount Vernon High School.

Lady Tigers softball players receive end of year honors

The 2014 Mount Vernon Lady Tiger softball team gathered last week to celebrate their 33-10 season. “Our season is rarely ever over in time for these awards to be presented at the Athletic Banquet,” head coach Dana Bohlken said.

Alexander, Ables to join All Star Game

Mount Vernon ISD Athletic Director Mike Alexander will be the head coach of the Blue team for the 2014 Fellowship of Christian Athletes Chick-Fil-A Heart of a Champion Bowl All Star Game.

Johnson named to All-State team

Sarah JohnsonSarah Johnson was named to the All-State softball team by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Johnson was also named as the 2014 District 15-2A Co-Most Valuable Player

Lady Tigers set school records, members earn All-District honors

Mount Vernon Lady Tigers softball teamThe Mount Vernon Lady Tigers softball team set MVISD records and the entire team was honored with 2014 All-District selections. The Lady Tigers were Regional Finalists and earned a 33-10-1 record for the season.

Brown named Player of the Year for DIII baseball

Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown was named the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division III 2014 Pitcher of the Year and Player of the Year. He was also named to NJCAA’s All American team as a first team pitcher.

Sand tournament to benefit Lady Tigers

A co-ed four on four sand volleyball tournament will be Saturday, June 14 starting at 9 a.m. at the Sonic sand court at the intersection of I-30 and Hwy. 37.

Laine Lowry wins gold at state meet

Laine LowryLaine Lowry, as a part of the 1600 meter relay team from Argyle High School, won the gold medal in Class 3A at the UIL State Track Meet in Austin on Saturday, May 10.
