Lady Tigers finish year as Area Finalists

Savannah Wagner spkes the ball over the block of two White Oak players. She raised the bar high this year, setting a new record for career kills at 1,332. The 2016 Mount Vernon Lady Tiger volleyball team finished their season as Area Finalists last week. They had a 29-9 overall season record and were District 13-3A Champions with a 7-1 record.

Lady Tigers compete at regional cross country

The Mount Vernon Lady Tiger varsity cross country team came in 14th out of 23 teams competing at the UIL 3A Region 2 Championship  meet on Saturday, October 29. See the November 3 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for a listing of individual places and times at the meet.

The Mount Vernon Tiger freshman A football team defeated the Farmersville Farmers 12-0 on Thursday, October 27.

Eighth grade ladies claim district co-championship

The eighth grade A Lady Tiger volleyball team claimed the district co-championship by defeating Prairiland on Monday, October 24.

Saltillo Lions are regional champions

Saltillo cross country team The Saltillo boys cross country team claimed first place at the regional meet on Saturday, October 29 at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.

JV retains perfect 5-0 district record

The Mount Vernon junior varsity football team blanked Quitman 48-0 on the Bulldogs’s home field. This victory brings the young Tigers to a 5-0 district record and 8-1 overall.
