Winnsboro Red Raiders raid Purple Tigers 15-14

The Mount Vernon Tigers lost to the Winnsboro Red Raiders 15-14 in a clash of neighboring rivals on Friday, September 20. “I was proud of how our kids never stopped fighting and how they handled the wet conditions of the field and the ball,” Head Coach Mike Alexander said.

JV Tigers fall to Cooper

The Mount Vernon junior varsity Tigers lost to Cooper 24-26 in the final seconds of the game on Thursday, September 12. Cooper scored a touchdown with 30 seconds remaining to score 24 points.

Mount Vernon opens district play at Hooks

The Mount Vernon Tigers will travel to Hooks to face the Hornets on Friday, September 27 for the first district football game of 2013. “Everybody is starting over this week,” Head coach Mike Alexander said.

Ladies beat Daingerfield

Mount Vernon falls to Cooper 48-6

Sam Alston stiff arms an opponent as he crosses the goal line to score the only Tiger touchdown against the Cooper Bulldogs. Friday the 13th did not go well for the Mount Vernon Tiger football team as they lost 48-6 to the state ranked Cooper Bulldogs. The Tigers had their hands full trying corral the running attack of the Bulldogs.
