Basketball Camp

Basketball Camp groupA group of seventh through 12th grade boys attended the annual boys basketball camp at the school July 29-31. During the camp boys were drilled on skill, technique, and ball handling.

Volleyball Camp

Volleyball Camp groupMore than 40 girls in grades seven through 12 attended the annual volleyball camp at Mount Vernon High School July 29-31. During the event the girls were taught the techniques and skills needed to play a good game of volleyball.

Volleyball practice starts Monday, August 5

Two a day practices for the Lady Tiger volleyball players will begin on Monday, Aug. 5 at 8 a.m. in the High School Gym. Players should arrive the first day of practice in workout clothing. Lady Tigers jump into action

Football practice starts Monday

The Mount Vernon Tiger football teams will begin practices for their 2013 season on Monday, Aug. 5 at 7 a.m. The varsity and junior varsity squads will practice from 7 to 10 a.m. and again from 12  to 2 p.m. For more information, see the Aug. 1 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Lady Tigers receive softball honors

Bailey Bohlken, Sara JohnsonTwo Lady Tigers recently received Honors for the 2013 softball season. Bailey Bohlken was named to the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State softball team as a catcher. Sarah Johnson was named to the East Texas Softball Super Team as a pitcher.
