Mount Vernon Tigers fall to Avery Bulldogs

Fetzen Talsma leaps over an Avery defender to make a lay up for the Tigers.The Mount Vernon Tiger varsity boys basketball team were hosts to the Avery Bulldogs Friday, November 22.The varsity Tigers fell 53-39, as did the junior varsity squad 46-30.

Volleyball All-District picks announced

Mount Vernon Varsity Lady Tigers volleyball team.The 2013 volleyball All-District picks for District 15-2A were announced last week by the volleyball coaches in the district. Several members of the Mount Vernon Lady Tigers volleyball team were honored as members of the All-District team. For more information, see the November 21 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Lady Tigers sweep Daingerfield

Mount Vernon to be host for girls basketball tournament

Members of the coaching staff at Mount Vernon High School will be hosts for the Belt Buster Round Up girls basketball tournament Thursday, November 21 through Saturday, November 23.

Junior high Tigers undefeated this season

Members of the eighth grade football team celebrate after completing two undefeated seasons.

Both the Mount Vernon Junior High seventh and eighth grade football teams ended their season this year undefeated. The eighth grade team was undefeated last year as a seventh grade team and have an overall record for the two seasons of 15-0.
