Sweeden places in singles

The Mount Vernon High School tennis team competed at the Prairiland Invitational tournament last week. Marshall Sweeden won consolation in the men’s singles division.

Lady Tigers defeat Chapel Hill

The Mount Vernon Lady Tigers softball team continued their undefeated streak through their District 16-3A opponents with a 5-0 victory over the Chapel Hill Lady Devils on Tuesday, March 24. For details from that game, see the April 2 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Clover, Boekhorst named to All Region team

Haylee Clover and Paula BoekhorstHaylee Clover and Paula Boekhorst were named to the All-Region basketball team. Clover was also named to the All-State basketball team for the rest of this story, see the April 2 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Saltillo beats Fruitvale

The Saltillo Lions baseball team beat Fruitvale 12-11 on Friday, March 27. Cade Daniel scored four runs for the Lions and Dakota Carroll crossed the plate twice.
