Tiger victory - one step closer to playoffs

Both teams knew that the winner would be one step closer to securing a playoff berth. The Mount Vernon Tigers came out on top with the final score 21 - 20.

Cross country teams qualify for regionals

Mount Vernon Tiger and Lady Tiger cross country teams

Both the Mount Vernon Tiger and Lady Tiger cross country teams placed second at the District Cross Country Meet at Chapel Hill on Monday, Oct. 21. They will compete at the regional level on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. For more information, see the October 24 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Freshman and junior varsity Lady Tigers beat Paris Chisum

The Mount Vernon junior varsity and freshman volleyball teams beat Paris Chisum in games on Tuesday, October 8. The junior varsity team won in three sets 13-25, 27-25, and 25-16. For more information, see the October 17 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Eighth grade Tigers win 52 to 0

Kevi Evans returns a punt for a 55 yard touchdown.The eighth grade Tigers A football team won their game against the eighth grade Pairiland Patriots 52 to 0 on Thursday, October 3. Kevi Evans returns a punt for a 55 yard touchdown. He also had a 62 yard and a five yard touchdown run in the ball game.

Lady Tigers win two big games last week

Sarah Johnson spikes the volleyball to place it across the net for the Lady Tigers in their game against Prairiland.The Mount Vernon Lady Tigers defeated both Prairiland and Paris Chisum last week at Tiger Gym. These volleyball games were critical wins for the Lady Tigers who had fallen to both teams in the first round of district play.

The team finished their home tournament in second place after a loss to Chisum in the championship game. Tigers to travel to Queen City

The Mount Vernon Tiger varsity football team will travel to Queen City on Friday, October 18. The Queen City Bulldogs have beaten Hooks and Prairiland and have fallen to New Boston so far this season for a 2-1 district record.

Tigers beat Prairiland Patriots 15-12, 2-0 in district

Kris Ables eyeballs a defender during his 37 yard touchdown run.The Mount Vernon Tiger football team claimed a 15-12 victory over the Prairiland Patriots in front of a large homecoming crowd on Friday, October 4. The Tigers are now 2-0 in District 8-2A competition.
