Saltillo’s Carroll headed to State

Dakota CarrollDakota Carroll, a junior at Saltillo High School, has qualified for the 1A, division II State Track Meet in the 1600 meter run. He will run in Austin at 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.

Tigers end season as Bi-District finalists

The Mount Vernon Tigers baseball team made its second post season appearance in as many years with a first round match up against the New Boston Lions on Thursday and Friday, May 1 and 2 and were defeated in the best of three series.

Lady Tigers clinch Area Title, aim for Regional Quarterfinal

Mount Vernon catcher Bailey Bohlken protects the plate from Commerce’s Emily Gruver during the sixth inning of the first game. The Lady Tigers won the game 4-3 in an extra inning. The Mount Vernon Lady Tigers defeated Commerce in a best of three series at Grand Saline on Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3 to claim the Area Title.
