“Meet-up” for music lovers set

Members of Mount Vernon Music have planned the organization’s first community “Meet-up” at noon on Saturday, May 27 at the Bistro in the M. L. Edwards building in downtown Mount Vernon.

Symphony performers to provide String Fest concert

Leading players from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and a guest artist from Canada will join the Orchard Ensemble for storied music by Mozart and Beethoven in Mount Vernon Music’s “String Fest” at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21 in The Music Hall.

Wilkinson exhibit opens Friday

The opening of an exhibit of special selections from the collection of local art aficionado T. R. “Tom” Wilkinson, III will be marked by a reception, which is open to the public, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 5 at the Cultural Arts Center in Mount Vernon.

Kridler to present native landscaping program

Keith Kridler, a Master Gardner since 1998, will be the featured speaker at the bimonthly meeting of the Franklin County Historical Association at 7 p.m. Monday, May 1 at the Cultural Arts Center.
