Awards presented at DRIVEN Film Festival

Dustin Ellis displayed and demonstrated his turn of the century phonograph collection during the film festival.The winning video in the Bankhead Highway Faces and Places video contest was at submitted by the City of Aledo.

Regional Jazz Band concert Saturday

All-Region Jazz Band participantsThe public is invited to attend a free concert by the All-Region IV Jazz Band at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 17 at the Mount Vernon High ISD Auditorium.

Daphne Prairie exhibit to open

Homecoming Dance to feature J. D. Cobb Band

The J.D. Cobb Band will be featured live on stage at the Homecoming Street Dance from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, September 17, on “Smokey Row” (S. Houston St.) in downtown Mount Vernon.

Music Gala raises over $5,000

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Bluegrass Band in concert at the Mount Vernon Music Hall.The 11th annual Mount Vernon Music Gala Saturday evening at the Music Hall netted just over $5,000 for the organization’s scholarship and youth outreach programs.

A Bankhead Highway Centennial Celebration Picnic and program are planned in conjunction with the Franklin County Historical Association’s bi-monthly general membership meeting Monday evening, September 5.

Members of the Franklin County Arts Alliance (FCAA) will be hosts for the DRIVEN Film Festival in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Bankhead Highway on Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10.
