Beatnik coffee house night planned at CAC

Members of the Franklin County Arts Alliance will be hosts for a Beatniks-Bongos-Brew and Fondue event on Saturday, March 7. The public is encouraged to attend and to dress in beatnik style. See the  February 26 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details about this event.

Children’s Valentine workshop at CAC

Members of the Franklin County Arts Alliance will be hosts for a Children’s Valentine Workshop on Saturday, February 7 at 10 a.m. at the Cultural Arts Center.

The Joy of Strings concert Sunday

Mount Vernon Music will present the Wyeth String Quartet at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 1, in Mount Vernon Music Hall.  The quartet is comprised of the principal string players of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

Viola and Friends, a celebration of music for the “middle child” of the violin family, will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, in Mount Vernon Music Hall, 402 Leftwich at Yates street.

Mardis Gras dance planned downtown

The Sacred Heart Catholic Church Ladies Guild is planning a Mardi Gras Dance Friday, February 13. The event will be conducted in the Hill Building on the south side of the square.

Bigony watercolors exhibited at Frame Up

An exhibit of work by award winning artist Ron Bigony is now on display at the Frame Up Fine Arts Gallery at 204 W. Main St. in Mount Vernon. “We encourage everyone to stop by and see these incredible pieces of work,” gallery owner Charlotte Chaney said.
