Registration open for Summer Reading Program

Registration for the Franklin County Library’s Summer Reading Program is now open. “A Universe of Stories” is the theme of the program for children ages four through 12.

Miss Mount Vernon pageant sign-up begins

Sign-up for the 51st annual Miss Mount Vernon Scholarship Pageant will begin May 15, according to Heather Bales, pageant coordinator for the sponsoring Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.

Egg hunt in the Park Saturday

The annual Easter in the Park event is Saturday, April 20, beginning at 10 a.m. at Little Creek Park. The Children’s Easter Egg hunt is free and will be organized by age groups with staggered starts.

The 11th annual chili and music festival has been rescheduled for this Saturday, April 27 at the Alamo Mission Museum after being rained out earlier this month.

Frets and bows concert Sunday at The Music Hall

Classical guitarist Andrew DanielMount Vernon Music will present classical guitarist Andrew Daniel at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, in the Mount Vernon Music Hall He will be joined by the Orchard Ensemble performing string quartets by Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky.
