Food baskets to be distributed, Christmas store selections made

Holiday food baskets will be distributed Saturday and the Christmas Store will be open portions of Tuesday and Wednesday next week to serve families who may have not received other help for their families as part of the Christmas for All (CfA) Angel Gift project.

Lots of kids went to try out the skating rink after the parade December 1.Lots of kids went to try out the skating rink after the parade December 1. The Chamber of Commerce’s synthetic ice skating rink is open from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, from 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays from 2 to 10 p.m., and from 2 to 6 p.m. Sundays through the end of December.

Steak cook-off being planned in April

A Community Events Committee Steak Cook-off is being planned for late April 2018, according to an event and alcohol permit application filed with the City of Mount Vernon by CEC Secretary/Treasurer Jewella Cooper.
