Monday is deadline for Optic for holiday

The deadline for news and advertising will be at noon  Monday, November 19 so that the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald can publish early for the papers to be in the mail before the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Food Baskets distributed Friday

Thanksgiving food baskets will be distributed from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, November 16 at the Community Food Bank of Franklin County at 822 Leftwich St., Mount Vernon.

The Mount Pleasant American Legion and the First District of the State of Texas are sponsoring a Veterans Benefit Seminar / Fair on Wednesday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center.
