Prayer stations open to public through Easter

Community members are invited to stop by and experience six prayer stations presented by the Children’s Ministry Department of First United Methodist Church in God’s Garden during the Lenten season.

Free lunches at Senior Citizen’s building

Local senior citizens who are 60 years of age or older are welcome to take advantage of the free lunches served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Senior Citizen’s building

Brewer 100th birthday party planned

A 100th birthday celebration has been planned for Christene Brewer at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5. The event will be at Weaver Baptist Church.

Applications accepted for conservation programs

Applications for funding opportunities with the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) are currently being accepted at the USDA Service Center located at 1809 W. Ferguson Rd.

Conservation funding available through stewardship program

A total of $150 million in funding is available for agricultural producers through the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP). The program helps producers voluntarily improve the health and productivity of lands.

Pie in the face

Mr. Burton challenged the Cub Scouts to wear their uniforms to weekly meetings. The top Cub Scout from each den had the opportunity to throw a pie.

North Franklin fish fry March 5

Members of the North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department will be hosts for a fish fry on Saturday, March 5 at the Hagansport Community Center. The fish fry will be at 5 p.m. Fried catfish with all the trimmings

Shooting sports program organized

The Franklin County 4-H  Club is adding shooting sports to their program for local county youth.  The program is available to students in grades three through 12. See the February 18 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more information about this new program.
