Cowboy church celebrates anniversary

The Sulphur River Cowboy Church will be celebrating their eighth anniversary with an event on Saturday, March 29. Included in the event will be pony rides and mechanical bull rides beginning at 3 p.m. Bingo with $1 cards still start at 5 p.m., as will serving of chili and stew.

Grief seminar set at Macon Baptist

Members of the Macon Baptist Church will be hosts for a Grief Seminar Wednesdays March 26 and April 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. Dan Boler will be the facilitator for this free seminar.

Health Fair Thursday, March 20

The 2014 Franklin County Health Fair is Thursday, March 20 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center. The event will provide health care information to people of all ages about a range of health topics.

Cancer survivor reception planned

The Franklin County Relay for Life committee is planning a Cancer Survivor’s Dinner for Tuesday, April 29 at 6 p.m. Cancer survivors and their caregivers are encouraged to attend this celebration of life and hope which will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon.

AARP to meet March 25

Vance to speak at genealogy meeting

The monthly meeting of the Franklin County Genealogical Society will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 17. Texas Ranger John Vance, a 23 year veteran of Texas Law Enforcement, will be the speaker.
