Genealogy program to be on the “Father of Prohibition”

The Franklin County Genealogical Society will present Andrew Austin’s story in film of “Modern Icarus: The Story of Morris Sheppard (1998-1941). Known later in life as “The Father of Prohibition,”

Mr. Sheppard was born about 40 miles from here in Naples, Texas. The program is set for 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 in the First National Bank’s Century Room. For more details about the event, see the Feb. 14 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
