Kick-off set for CHEMPA group

The annual Kick-Off Party for CHEMPA, the Christian Home Educators of the Mount Pleasant Area, will be Tuesday, August 23. The event will be from 7 to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant.

GED, ESL classes forming

The Adult Education Program at Northeast Texas Community College offers free GED and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes at a variety of convenient locations. For details about when and where registration and classes will be, see the August 4 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Members of the Mount Vernon ISD Athletic Booster Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 25 in the foyer of the new Tiger gym.

Alphin named to Dean’s List

Jace Alphin was named to the College of the Ozarks spring 2016 Dean’s List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must maintain a 3.6 minimum grade point average during the semester and carry at least 15 credit hours.
