Young farmer project show meetings Monday, Tuesday

Two mandatory meeting dates for students planning to participate in the steer, dairy heifer or goat categories of the Mount Vernon - Saltillo Young Farmer Project Show in March 2017 are set for early next week.

Safety is stressed for drivers and pedestrians

Classes begin at area schools on Monday, August 21, and parents, drivers, and students are cautioned to be extra cautious in school zones and parking lots.

High school classes plan reunion

The classes of 1997 and 1998 will hold a combined 20 year reunion on Saturday, October 14th.

UT-Tyler announces Spring honor students

Ten local area residents were among the 570 students named to the President’s Honor Roll, or 412 students, as well as 76 pharmacy students, named to the Dean’s List for the 2017 spring semester announced by University of Texas at Tyler President Michael Tidwell. Long completes basic training

Kaden LongKaden Long, a 2017 graduate of Mount Vernon High School completed his basic training for the U.S. Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio on August 25.
