Heritage scholarship dinner Friday

The twelfth annual Heritage Scholarship Banquet, honoring the black heritage graduates of the 2019 Mount Vernon High School graduating class and those currently in college, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 14 in the Cultural Arts Center.

Service being planned for school bus wreck anniversary

A memorial service is being planned for the 60th anniversary of the accident involving a school bus loaded with Mount Vernon students and faculty.

Class of 1969 plans 50th reunion

The Mount Vernon High School class of 1969 has set the “69er Last-Time-Before-We-Die 50th Reunion Meal” for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at El Manna Tex-Mex Restaurant off I-30 in Mount Vernon. See the May 23 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more information.

Kindergarten “Round-Up” continues next week

The annual Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round- Up at Mount Vernon Elementary School will continue next week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 28-30.
