Third sidewalk contract awarded to Marler & Assoc.

The Mount Vernon City Council members awarded its third Texas Capital Funds sidewalk project contract for the reconstruction of the Plaza district sidewalks to C. E. Marler and Associates, Inc. of Kilgore during their Monday night meeting.

Compressor needed to fill fire departments’ air tanks

The Countywide Fire Association of Franklin County is in need of $15,000 in funding to replace a more than 32 year old specialized air compressor that is used to refill the air tanks for all four departments.

Homeowner reports loss of ivory tusks in burglary

Zach Donaldson reported the loss of 27 inch Ivory Walrus Tusks in the burglary of his residence. The tusks were valued at $30,000.
