HOT funds hot topic at commissioner’s court

An agenda item requesting the release of Franklin County Hotel / Motel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds for two local organizations resulted in a standing room only response from almost every nonprofit group that has ever received some of those funds Monday morning at the regular meeting of the county commissioners court.

Teen short story writing contest deadline approaching

A teen only short story contest is now open for submissions with no entry fee. The contest, sponsored by the Northeast Texas Writers Organization, will close November 1, 2018.
