American Legion donates to food bank

Licensed Retriever hunting test planned at Selah Ranch

A hunting dog test will be conducted at the Selah Ranch north of Mount Vernon December 8 and 9. The event will be open to the public and will also offer a fund raising opportunity for a local group.

Licensed Retriever hunting test planned at Selah Ranch

Approximately 200 licensed retrievers and their handlers will descend upon Selah Ranch for a hunting dog test December 8 and 9. Members of the Rose Country Retriever Club from Tyler will be the hosts for the event.

Annual Tour of Homes planned for December 9

There’s nothing like a Tour of Homes to tug at heartfelt memories, especially in December. The tour, sponsored by the Franklin County Historical Association, will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 9.

Ladies Night Out event Thursday night

A Ladies Night Out shopping event is Thursday, December 6, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The event will be centered around Glammiez Boutique and Floral, J. Boyd Art Studio, M.L. Edwards & Co, Recycled Renaissance, and the Market at Sheers.

General Election returns canvassed

Ten provisional or by-mail ballots were added to the voting totals for the canvass of the November 6 General Elections performed by the Franklin County Commissioners Court on Monday, November 19.

Christmas parade registrations open

The Community Events Committee is still accepting applications for floats to join the annual Christmas Parade. This year’s parade has been set for 7 p.m. Saturday, December 15 and the theme is “All About Disney.”

Council limits routes for trucks with oversize loads

Truck traffic with oversize loads will be limited in downtown Mount Vernon with specifics added to the city’s code of ordinances at last week’s meeting of the Mount Vernon City Council.
