Tree trimmers to begin local work

AEP Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO)’s subcontractor, Asplundh Tree Expert Co., will begin eight to 10 weeks of tree trimming in and around Mount Vernon in September, with contacts being made with property owners starting September 9.

Mount Vernon City Administrator Tina Rose emphasizes the importance of tree trimming to ensure power reliability during storms. “We have had several discussions during council meetings recently about the number of outages during recent storms so we know this trimming needs to occur,” said Adm. Rose. The tree trimming process will include customer notification by a front door hanger, five days before work will be conducted. This will provide an opportunity for customers to meet with trimmers about their property and preferences.
Homeowners, and the owners of rental properties, should closely monitor the front doors of the home for these notices. See the August 30 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more information.
