Split council vote on budget

The Mount Vernon City Council adopted the 2013-14 Budget Monday in a 3:2 split vote of the council members. Council members Saundra Dunn and Donny Richards voted against the budget after voicing concerns in two budget areas.

The council was unanimous in setting the tax rate at $0.604382. For information on the dissenting votes, see the Sept. 12 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
