Every event, program, or facility funded with hotel occupancy tax revenues must be likely to do two things: first, directly promote tourism; and, second, directly promote the convention and hotel industry.
This was the primary message delivered by Russell Gallahand, with the Economic Development, Analysis and Incentives Division of the Texas Comptrollers Office. He was speaking to members of the Mount Vernon City Council, Franklin County Commissioners Court and other organization representatives in a workshop meeting on Monday, Oct. 28. For more details from the message, see the Nov. 7 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
