A seven member panel was appointed as the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Mount Vernon. In so doing, City Council members removed the council as a whole from the Planning and Zoning Board at their regular monthly meeting Monday, March 10.
Although the ordinance establishing a planning and zoning commission for the city has been in place since May 1967, it has been members of the Mount Vernon City Council who have served as a committee in dealing with planning and zoning issues.
