Sidewalk project hits electrical snag

The second phase of the City of Mount Vernon’s downtown sidewalk project has hit an electrical snag. The cost of moving electrical service from in front of the buildings along the east side of the square has been estimated at $35,000.

City Administrator Tony Stonecypher stated at the May council meeting, that he would pursue getting prices for other alternatives to moving the poles to the back side of the east side, such as under ground service. For more details from the City Council meeting, see the June 5 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
