Commissioners Court officially propose tax rate increase

The Franklin County’s Commissioners Court proposed a 3.4 cent tax rate increase to fund an eight percent increase in the budget proposed for 2018 with a 4:1 vote at their Monday, August 14 meeting.

With expenses $426,582 over the current year’s budget, the rate will provide for maintenance and operations, road material expenses, county employee raises, and new unfunded state mandates on jail standards from the 85th Texas Legislature.
