Commissioners adopt 2018 budget, set 2017 tax rate

The 2018 Franklin County Budget and 2017 ad valorem tax rate to support it was adopted by members of the Commissioners Court by a vote of 4:1, after no fanfare from the public in any of three public hearings on the subject.

The budget will raise more total property taxes than last year by $426,582, an eight percent increase from 2016 taxes. Of that amount $77,751 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.
