City, county approve road work agreement

The rift between the City of Mount Vernon and Franklin County elected officials seems to be a step closer to resolution with approval of a inter-local agreement for cooperative work on eight roads

on the northern and western edges of the city in separate meetings Monday. Pct. 1 Commissioner Jerry Cooper reached out to the city to offer to do seal chipping of specified roads last week, and the matter was placed on the Monday’s agenda for each of the groups. For more about this agreement, see the May 17 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
