Lake elevation will not be lowered for flood protection

Formal action was taken to set policy for the Franklin County Water District’s staff stating “do no temporary or permanent lowering of Lake Cypress Springs (LCS) water service elevation for flood protection purposes” at the June meeting of the district’s board of directors.

The question was whether the district should use the low flow outlet through the dam to lower the surface level of the lake about a foot over a 55 day period. To learn more about this action, see the June 21 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
