Prisoner housing, HOT dollars targeted to fund county EDC

Members of the Franklin County Commissioners Court put the fund balances of the county’s Hotel / Motel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and the housing of out-of-county prisoners in their sights Monday as a source of funding for the nonprofit Franklin County Economic Development Corporation,

which is still being formed. Judge Scott Lee continues to favor the use of the HOT funds for economic development. Pct. 2 Commissioner Larkin Jumper’s target for funding is the county’s Out-of-County Prisoner Housing fund. See the June 28 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for the rest of this story.
