City tax rate same for sixth consecutive year, budget up

The City of Mount Vernon proposed the same ad valorem tax rate for the sixth consecutive year at its Monday night meeting as its proposed a $4.7 million 2019 budget, that dips into reserves about $700,000.

The tax rate proposed is $.60438 per $100 of value, which is estimated to bring in  $658,141 in tax revenues. For more details about the City’s budget, see the Aug. 16 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
