Fraud case reported at Sheriff’s Office

A local man received a message from someone claiming to be with Apple support of possible fraudulent use of his credit card.

During the course of the conversation, he was instructed to purchase gift cards from first Brookshires and then Dollar General and provide the caller with the card’s pin numbers. He lost approximately $500 due to the scam. “You should never give a pin number from a gift card to someone that you do not know,” Chief Deputy Chris Mars said.
