Legislature eliminates extra meetings for commissioners

The current Texas Legislature enacted a bill eliminating the need for special meetings to approve payroll and recurring bills at the request of many of the state’s commissioners courts, including Franklin County.

Local Commissioners Court members boisterously adopted an order approving disbursement of salaries and utility bills, allowed under the new legislation. They stopped short of adding other recurring bills to the order. To learn more about this and other action taken by the Court, see the June 13 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
