Rail board members try to find hope for the future

Several members of the North East Texas Rural Rail Transportation board attempted to steer opposing forces toward a means to stabilize the railroad’s future at their November meeting.

Neal Barker of Hopkins County and new treasurer for the district spearheaded the effort. The core of the problems, whether with Blacklands Railroad or another short-line operator, continues to be the inability to attract new customers due to the degraded track and bridges.
