Election filing open for local board seats

Registration is now open for anyone wishing to sign up as a candidate for seats on the Franklin County Water District (FCWD) board of directors, the Mount Vernon City Council, or the Mount Vernon ISD Board of Trustees.

Mount Vernon ISD officially called for May 1 elections in their January board meeting. The FCWD and City of Mount Vernon are expected to call their elections during their meetings later this month. Information packets are available at each of these offices, and must be returned no later than close of business on Friday, February 12, to secure a place on the ballot.
