High school band to present Dessert Concert Tuesday

Members of the Mount Vernon High School Mighty Tiger Band will present a Dessert Concert to showcase the talents of their students who are participating in the UIL Region Solo and Ensemble contest.

Mount Vernon students perform with All-Region Band

School’s bond project completed within budget

After numerous corrections, adjustments, and additions, the $14 million bond project was completed within budget, according to a report provided at the Mount Vernon ISD board meeting on Monday, February 8.

Sulphur Bluff Scholarship Foundation receives $40,000 donation for students

Members of the Hageman family and employees of their companies toured Sulphur Bluff Independent School District Wednesday, Jan. 20 to announce their donation to the Sulphur Bluff Scholarship Foundation. They were joined by members of the Foundation for the tour.The Sulphur Bluff Scholarship Foundation (SBSF) received a $40,000 donation from the Hageman Foundation to help fund students’ higher education opportunities.

The National Football League sent this football to Mount Vernon High School in honor of Bobby Maples.The National Football League sent this football to Mount Vernon High School in honor of Bobby Maples. Mr. Maples, a 1961 graduate of MVHS, played for the Denver Broncos team in Super Bowl XII.

Band students receive Four States honors

Tanner Patterson, Jacob Karlovich, and Jacob WestTanner Patterson, Jacob Karlovich, and Jacob West, members of the Mount Vernon High School Tiger Band, have been selected as members of the Four States Bandmasters Association Honor Band.

Mount Vernon moves from east to west in UIL realignment

The biennial realignment by the University Interscholastic League was announced Monday, February 1 and Mount Vernon football opponents moved from the east to those in the west.

Tours of new Mount Vernon ISD gym Sunday

Residents are invited to tour the new Mount Vernon ISD gym on Sunday, January 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. A non-traditional ribbon cutting program will be inside the gym at 2 p.m..
