Eight votes. That was the margin that passed the $14 million bond proposal for Mount Vernon ISD on Saturday, May 10. It will go down in the record books as the closest vote for a non-candidate election in MVISD history.
A total of 1,370 people cast votes in the election, which is only 24 percent of the 5,714 registered. For more information about this election, and previous elections that were close, see the May 15 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
