Funeral services for Jerry Swarts, age 79 of Mount Vernon were at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Rosamond and Tim Evans officiating.
Burial was at the Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
Mr. Swarts was born on Oct. 21, 1933 in Franklin County to Roland F. Swarts and Rua Lee Brown Swarts. He was a retired teacher, having taught at Mobeetie, Talco, and Rivercrest ISD’s and was a dairy farmer. He was a past President for the Franklin County Farm Bureau, serving 29 years. He was on the Board of Directors of the Franklin County Farm Bureau and Mid-America Dairy Producers. He was a member of the Sulphur River Cowboy Church.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Titus Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Swarts of Mount Vernon; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Susan Swarts of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Debbra Watson of Mount Vernon; a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Dana and David Friddle of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Derek Watson, Kurt Cargile, Casey Swarts, J.P. Parkerson, Donnie Whitt and Archie Hayley.
