Memorial services for Larry Gray, age 63 of Mount Vernon, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home.
Mr. Gray was born on Jan. 18, 1950 in Port Arthur to Roland and Arlene Gray. He met his wife, Janet, while attending Kilgore Junior Colleg in November of 1970. After only having known each other for a week, they were engaged and married on Feb. 20 of the next year. They spent 42 years together and had two daughters. He spent many years creating works of art with wood, re-furbishing furniture, and building guitars. He won award ribbons at the Country Fair for his art. He spent 20 years in law enforcement.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Gray; his daughters, Amanda and Erin Gray; four grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Andy Roach and Tony Robles; and his brother, Dennis McDonald.
