Funeral services for Charles Wayne Zachary, age 86 of Mount Vernon, were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pepper Puryear officiating.
Burial was at Cypress Cemetery.
Mr. Zachary was born on June 12, 1927 in Franklin County to Ollie and Rosa Gossett Zachary. He served in active duty in the Navy during World War II from August 1945 to August 1946. He married Maxine Autrey in Winfield on June 14, 1947. He worked for Swepco for 43 years, retiring as a Senior Chemist in 1992.
He died on Sunday, Nov. 17 at East Texas Medical Center-Mount Vernon.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Mount Vernon; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ed Wienefeld of Coppell; a daughter, Linda Kump of Winnsboro; two grandchildren, a great-grandchild; four brothers, Bob Zachary of Winnsboro, Glen Zachary of Mount Vernon, Richard Zachary of Winnsboro, and Jim Zachary of Flint; and four sisters, Nadine Harwell of Queen City, Leta Argenbright of Emory, Jerrie Sue Mayfield of Longview, and Joan Burgess of Sherman.
