Funeral services for Mary Lou Scroggins, age 98 of Mount Vernon, were Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Jack Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery with Tim Parker, Matthew Werner, Mark Werner, and Michael Reed serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Scroggins was born Dec. 24, 1915, in Dike, Texas, to Henry Ledbetter and Mary Jane Thacker. She married Albert “Shorty” Lonnie Scroggins and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Scroggins is survived by daughters, Joy Silvestro, and husband, Richard of Plano and daughter, Gail Reed of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren: and twelve great grandchildren:
She is preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, her parents, three brothers, four sisters, a son-in-law, Mike Reed, and a grandson, Steven Parker.
The family has asked memorials be made to Cypress Basin Hospice or First United Methodist Church.
