Malcolm DavisA memorial service for Malcolm Livingston Davis, Jr., age 81 of Mount Vernon, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon with Pastor Pepper Puryear officiating.

Mr. Davis was born July 25, 1936, in Arlington, Tex., to the late Malcolm Livingston, Sr. and Evelyn Pauline Jordan Davis. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas in 1954. He was a member of the 1PM Lab Band at North Texas State University.
He married Lucy Ann Roberts, March 1, 1975. Together, they raised a family, owned and operated Mount Vernon Floors and More, and All Star Golf and Games.
Mr. Davis served as a lay minister for the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in the 1970s, completed chaplain school in 2003, and served as a chaplain for Cypress Basin Hospice and East Texas Medical Center in Mount Vernon. He was associated with the Ministerial Alliance and was key in establishing the chaplaincy program with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Lucy; children and spouses, Karen Elaine and Larry Cuttill of Garland, Jeff and Teresa Davis of Euless, and Mark Davis of Tyler; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and by a host of other relatives and friends.
