Elaine Knittel

A memorial service for Elaine Kay Knittel, age 69 of Chillicothe, Mo., will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Chillicothe.

A scheduled visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
A private family burial will be set for a later date at Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe.
Mrs. Knittel was born to  Mathus Walter and Ila Fay (Rhoades) Black on Feb. 6, 1949, in Winnsboro, Tex. She was a 1966 graduate of Mount Vernon High School.After graduation, she attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, Tex. She then attended East Texas University in Commerce, Tex.
She married Rev. Paul A. Knittel on Feb. 11, 1979, in Sulphur Springs, Tex.
She worked as a teacher’s aide at Verelle Peniston State School in Chillicothe for 27 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chillicothe and served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
Mrs. Knittel died Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Mo.
She was preceded in death  by her parents, and her husband on May 8, 2004.
She is survived by a son, Stephen Knittel and wife Meghan of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Janine Clampitt and husband Chris of Richmond, Mo., and Kristen VanDyke and husband Duane of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Lynda Gilmore of Richardson, Tex., and Elease Hubbell and husband Jerry of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren and one great grandchild;
