Ed Morrow

Funeral services for Ed Morrow, age 79 of Mount Vernon, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Murrow was born Oct. 1, 1930 in Arp, Tex., to J. W. Morrow and Lizzi Lorain Denman Morrow. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon and was a deacon in earlier years. He served as the Franklin County Tax Assessor/Appraiser until he retired in 1996. He was in the United States Army in the Korean War and was in the reserves. He was a past member of the American Legion Post 243.
He died Saturday, June 19 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
He is survived by his daughters, Dawn Padgett of Cason and Dana Wisinger of Mount Vernon; a sister, Billie Grandstaff of Overton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

I remember fondly the early days of covering the school tax assessments and later the tax appraisal district. Ed had a way of making the view through all the red tape clearer for the rest of us.
And - he loved his girls - you were the apples of his eye, even after the grand kids and great grands ....... Dana and Dawn, my prayers are with you and the family at this time.
